            Masami's Hawaiian Adventure

March 30, 2003

Yesterday I came to Hawaii and Angelika & Joel picked me up at the Honolulu airport with their dog, Smurf.
Their house is in the bamoo forest on a mountain in central, O'ahu. They have a pottery studio just outside of their house. Joel is a potter, and, Angelika makes mermaid sculptures. Today, she is going to give me a lesson in clay. Joel & Angelika are also profesional musicians. Joel took me with him to his job, playing music, at the Turtle Bay Resort Hotel on the north shore. I listened to Hawaiian music & the songs are very wonderful and impressive for me!
Wile I was waiting for Joel to finish his job, I walked on the beach where the water was very clean and beautiful. Also, I stopped and talked to some porters at the hotel. I spoke to them in English! They were very kind to me. I had a very pleasant time!

March 31, 2003

Today I went to a chicken farm behind the house with Angelika. We rode bicycles to the farm in the morning to buy eggs. First, I couldn't tide the bicycle because I haven't ridden one in a long time! Eventually, I became more skilled and enjoyed the ride very much! The air was very warm & comfortable here, making the ride pleasurable.
This was my first visit to a chicken farm. After we bought some eggs, I saw many chickes and to horses in a pasture. The mother horses's name is, Peppy, and the babies name is Bozo. I fed them grass while we were there. I want to have a horse at my house, too!
When we got home, I made a flower plate and a small heart article out of clay. I'm looking forward to completion, but, there's not time to finish them here, so Angelikas & Joel will have to ship them to Japan.
Later, we went to Dole Plantation with Smurf in the car. I found many kinds of pineapples from Brasil, and China, and, other exotic places.
I ate Lau Lau for dinner for the first time. It was very delicious and the food tasted very good. After dinner, I listedned to Joel and Angelika performed some music. They performed skillfully on the violin, and the banjo, and they sang very well as well! The harmony was wonderful too.

I went to the Farmer's Market with Angelika in the morning. There were many vegetables and fruits. The Famer's Market is so interesting because there is food from many different cultures.
Later, we went to a birthday party. I desceded the stairs of the house and the wonderful sea unfolded bfore my eyes! Then I saw turtles in the ocean right in front of the house; one was a baby turtle that was swimming ten feet away from us.
Later, we made masks, and decorated them with feathers, beads, and paint. I felt mysterious with the mask dryin on my face, but I enjoyed making it very much!
After we made the masks we had a polynesian tea ceremony. That was my first experience of such a tea ceremony and I dound it to be very interesting. Then afterward, we ate delicious meals and gad home made cake. I had a good time at the party!

It is a fine day!
I went to te pottery class with Angelika in the morning. I made a flower vase out of clay and Angelika made a mermaid. The mermaid was very cute. I attached hearts, stars, and, fish on the vase.
After the class we went to McDonalds for lunch. While we were there we ate fish burgers. I found that American siza fush burgers are a bigger size than Japanese, but they had a very good taste.
Next, we drove to the Dole Platation so that I could buy souveniors. I can give a lot of pepople in Japan gifts now. I hope that they like them!
Later, I cooled chicken curry and salad for dinner. The dinner turned out very well and, we all loved the taste of the cooking!

April 3, 2003

Today, I went to Waikele shopping center with Angelika. I developed my film and cought more souvenirs. We ate sandwiches and read magazines at lunchtime. The sandwiches were very delicious. After an hour I went to pick up my pictures. They were very nice. When I bought the souveniors I felt at loss about how to pay for them, however, the casher was kind emough to teach me. It was a learning experience for me.
As we were driving home in the car, we saw a large yellow tree. The name of the trees are, shower Tree. Also, we saw African Tulip trees, Jack O Randas, and Orchid trees in bloom. Thy were all very beautiful.
That evening, I went to a restaurant with Joel and Angelika. Then we ate dinner with their friends, Brie, and, Berny. Brien is a potter from Scotland, and, Berny is an artist from France that moved to Hawaii. At iner they showed us photographs of their art. It was very wonderful to see their work! Our diner was very good as well.

I got up at 6:30and and the weather was very stormy. I went to the mountains with Angelika and her friend, Mary. It took us an hour by car to het there. When we arrived at the mountain we met two instructors of Hawaiian Culture. Their names were Butch and, Howard. They Taught us so much about the Hawaiian Culture. It was difficult for me to understand so much English. I thought to myseld that I have to study the Eglish language very hard.
When we hiked up into the mountains, the weather turned out to be very fine. It was a pleasant climate. We saw streams and very beautiful mountains. The murmer of the stream and the chirping of birds was very impressive for me. All day I had a beautiful view of the mountains nature and, the ocean.
On the way home, we stopped at the beach, looked at the shells and coral, and played in the surf.

April 5, 2003

Today I went to the Farmer's Market with Angelika. There were lovely clothes and beautiful soaps as well as cute accessories! I bought a bracelet for my arm. It is my favorite!
Then, we met Angelika's friend, Suzune, who sells herbal goods. Everyone at the market is very friendly.
Later, we took my film to get it developed at the store in town. While we were waiting for the film tobe developed, Angelika took me out to lunch and I ate a sandwich and drank some iced tea. The sandwich was too big for me, but I ate it all anyway and it was very delicious.
After an hour, we went to pick up the pictures from the store where I also cought a pretty photo album. I think that the pictures will look very nice in the book I've written about my story of my adventures in Hawaii!!
We got onto the bus to return home and I think that it would be difficult for me to ride the bus allby myself.
Well, I have to go now to get ready to go to a movie with my new friend, Robbie whois from Vermont. He is Suzanne's son and they are here on vacation while his father is building a house for someone on the north shore. I am looking forward to going!
